The next host for this challenge is…
Priyanka is a mom to a soon-to-be-2-year-old little tornado, Cheeku. She blogs at The Happy Mumma Blog about cloth-diapering, babywearing, and montessori activities. Priyanka is also a mom-preneur at her new handbag venture – WeavesTrends. An Engineer by qualification, she found that writing made her happy.
Let’s get to know Priyanka little better.
WHAT WAS LIFE LIKE BEFORE YOU GOT MARRIED?
Priyanka says, “Life before marriage was all about getting back home from work and heading straight to kitchen to eat what mom had prepared for dinner. 😀 As an introvert, I have always had a limited number of friends and weekends were all about hanging out with them or reading a few books with a hot cuppa (This is a distant dream now :P). I had never been on vacations before my wedding and post wedding I’ve realised how much I love travelling. Thanks to the wanderlust husband ”
YOU QUIT YOUR JOB AND A CAREER THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN. . .
…a big transitional phase in your life. Tell us what drove you to make that decision.
Priyanka says, “Having studied Engineering in Biotechnology as a specialisation, I ended up joining a software company due to less number of opportunities in Biotech feild. I worked in a software company for 2 years but the bitter truth was I wasn’t enjoying what I was doing. This drove me to persue a course in Technical Writing and I joined back in another software company. This time doing my favorite thing- writing. Then my wedding got fixed and since my husband was into business, I wanted to help him and hence I chose to quit my job and support him. I took his offline business onto social media. That’s how WeavesTrends was born. ”
THE MOM-PRENEUR SERIES ON YOUR BLOG WAS. . .
…inspirational and refreshing. What are your plans for the future for the blog?
Priyanka says, “Thank you. :). I have a lot of blogposts ideas but with a tornado like Cheeku, I haven’t been able to touch my laptop too. Hopefully I will be able to start writing for my website once Cheeku starts her school the next academic year.”
THE ACTIVITIES AND MONTESSORI-STYLE SET UP YOU HAVE AT HOME. . .
…have caught a lot of attention. What or who inspired you to start those? what keeps you going?
Priyanka says, “I started introducing cheeku to activities when she was around 12 months and her interest for those activities is what drove me to setup more. A few Instagram accounts like @rattlebabblebattle, @allaboutmommying, @ammatoday, @lovethatyoucanbuy inspired me to start. The happiness when a follower shares their kids’ pictures doing the activity I shared is inexplicable. This constantly inspires me to do more.”

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR DAY WITH CHEEKU?
Priyanka says, “Being in a joint-family has been a blessing and I get to spend lot of time with Cheeku. I set up her activities during her morning nap and we are sorted for the rest of the day. She loves painting, and if I need a break, that is my go-to activity.”
IF YOU COULD HAVE THE ENTIRE DAY TO YOURSELF. . .
…just to yourself, how would you spend the day?
Priyanka says, “Ah, I would love it! A long morning nap, followed by a book, coffee and some sitcoms is how I would spend an entire day.”
IS THERE ANYTHING YOU MISS. . .
…from your life beore you became a mom?
Priyanka says, “I miss being that care-free girl, our impromptu vacations, date nights, movies, and not carrying a huge diaper bag. ”
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST LESSON MOTHERHOOD HAS TAUGHT YOU?
Priyanka says, “Patience. Motherhood has made me think twice before I take any action. It has taught me that my reactions/actions are what my daughter observes the most and she would imbibe the same.”
HOW HAS CONNECTING WITH OTHER PEOPLE ON SOCIAL MEDIA. . .
…been for you (moms in particular)? Would you recommend it to others? Why? Or why not?
Priyanka says, “I have loved talking to moms and their experiences on any matter on instagram. It has helped me many-a-times. I was unaware of the term BLW (Baby Led Weaning) until I joined instagram. I would definetly recommend it to others to know a and learn about different cultural upbringings and how the same sitiuation can be handled differently by different people.”
WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE ON SOCIAL MEDIA?
Priyanka says, “The number game and posting regularly has been the biggest challenge on social media. It gives me immense happiness when people come back trying the activities or the recipes that I have shared and share their little ones’ experience with me.”
ON ROUGH DAYS, WHAT KEEPS YOU GOING?
Priyanka says, “A BIG cup of coffee and a chat with my husband or mother can calm me down on the roughest of the days.”
IF SOMEONE WERE TO VISIT YOUR BLOG. . .
…for the first time, what would you like them to read first?
Priyanka says, “I’d love it if you could start with these:
- Easy DIY Activities for 12-15 months old
- 7 Challenges with Cloth Diapers and Their Solutions
- Tips to follow if your baby does not like Babywearing.”
